Welcome back Polo Players! After a very hot summer break, we are happy to announce the start of the new polo season 2021/2022 at Island Polo Club.
From October on we will be playing chukkas on the weekends again. To celebrate the start of the season we have decided to host a club tournament on the 2nd of October, followed by after-polo drinks in the Montekristo Brewery.

Malta Arena Polo Club is introducing a new award for exceptional Polo players, the “Best New Player Award”
As we are about to start our forth year at Malta Arena Polo, we have introduced a trophy the Best New Player for the previous season.
The trophy for the Polo Season 2017-18 was awarded to Laura Liehu. Laura originates from Finland and had started playing polo while attending university in the UK. When she moved to Malta, Laura decided to continue with her passion for polo and is now a regular player at the Malta Arena Polo Club. She has been a remarkable new starter and has improved her game ever since she joined our club. It has been a pleasure to follow her journey as a polo player, additionally she has joined many chukkas and tournaments as an umpire. We are excited to start into the new season of 2018-2019.

After 6 months of hard work which included boarding two sides of the arena, looking after and riding horses, teaching, website building and a whole host of other jobs, we were finally ready to host our first tournament.
Arena Polo teams are made up of 3 players and we put together 3 teams made up of our members, members from the Malta Polo Club, a retired player and a 2 goal visitor from Argentina.
Although oddly it was a cold night, spectators were able to view the action from parapet and enjoy a drink from the bar and roast pig in Maltese bread. We are very happy to be located at the beautiful Montekristo Estate in Malta.
This was the first time our novices had played in a competition and they all played incredibly well. The more experienced players were able to set the pace and encouraged the beginners to play to their best ability.
We would like to thank The Noble Marchesino Daniel Gera de Petri Testaferrata for commentating at our opening tournament, and to Mr George Lyttleton for his timing expertise.
